Had McDonalds for lunch and Burger King for dinner. I'm done with fast food until the end of the year.
For once, I watched a hall concert without being invovled in it. Was in sets for the first year and BOP for the second and third year. Finally, I could just sit back and enjoy the show. And well, the show was alright. The biggest complaint I have is that the diction by the cast members was poor. I couldn't hear half the words being said while the cast members were singing. And for some reason, Sir Loin spoke with an Indian accent. The prince also couldn't really carry his voice strongly enough. In contrast, "George" spoke well and I could understand most of what she said. The songs were good as usual. Too bad the duet between the prince and the princess was a bit spoilt by the flat and off keys by the prince. But, can't really blame him too much, his part was quite tough.
Sets wise... it was at a pass level. Could have been better with a little more imagination. However, good idea in distracting the audience with the jester and the minstral going down to interact with the audience while they shift the sets around.
Costumes was good. Just when I thought that last year's costumes were good, this year's standard definitely went up another level. Wei Zheng and Sok Leng sure outdid themselves this year. That's the advantage of having the same heads in one department for two years: you get better results the second time round. I especially liked the Queen's and princess' costumes. Not to mention the jester's costume too.
Nicole, with her acting background, did a pretty good job, especially with the script. And in line with RH high levels of horni-ness, this script was full of sexual cues and innuendos. However, I could see that the play highlighted the fact that Nicole had on-screen background. This was especially true with the scene where the king was drawing stuff for the jester and minstral to guess. It would have been even better on screen. The script is quite good, considering that it was written by us. Can't really compare with the script last year which was adapated. However, a little bit too many corny lines, namely: Will you marry me? I think I'm in love.
Overall, Noel and co. did a good job putting this show together. Daniel the critic gives the show 6.5 stars. Just as a comparison, Daniel the critic also has opinions on previous shows, giving Red Dust 7 stars, Insanity 5.5 stars, and Merson's Gift Shop 7.5 stars.
Any comments, complaints, or bitchings are MOST welcome.... once the comment server is back up, which has been down for almost 4 days. In the meantime, just keep your opinions to yourselves. Haha.
Oh yeah, almost forgot.... I AM INVINCIBLE!
