Went to Sim Lim today to get thermalpaste for my computer. Met Jyesheng and Yewnam on the way there, and also met Weichong at SimLim itself. After getting the thermalpaste, I decided to get myself a webcam too, to supplement the computer which I will be taking down to Australia. Got one by Creative for 65 bucks, which was the cheapest I found there. Some shops were selling for 69, 87 and even 95 dollars. And I thought all the prices in SimLim were more or less regulated.

So, today my computer went through some major surgery, thanks to Jinsheng. And now my computer is running at a much lower temperature. Still in the 60s, but not going past 70 anymore, even while playing games like NFS.

Was on the MRT today when I saw an ad by a company which produces fluorescent lights. In the ad, there was an old smiling woman, with a speech bubble saying "I grew up with Company XXX". Ironically, a company selling fluorescent lights got a person wearing thick glasses to say that. Weird huh. So, I guess with their fluorescent lights, you will end up wearing thick glasses.

Why, hello there, my little abode. Let me see, the last post was... about 3 weeks ago! Man, it has been that long huh...

Anyway, all is well, I hope. But, I am preparing to crash and burn in one subject already, so means I will be sticking around this island state for a little longer than expected. In fact, almost everyone is sure that he is going to be around for a while longer, no thanks to one particular subject called Not-to-be-stated. He only came in for ONE class and threw us with the question bank a few days before our study break. Better yet, we received the new updates only a few days before the study break too. So, some of the answers in the question bank were suspect. But, we didn't know that, and we happily ticked away the wrong answers during the exam. More on that once the results come out.

Forgetting about all the crap during the 3 days of hell, we decided to crash Zouk last night. And I got myself pissed drunk. And the feeling sucked. Worse still, I had class this morning at 8AM. Overslept and woke up only at 730, still in the clothes I wore the night before. While struggling to get ready with a damn hangover, I realized that I had run out of underwear, which meant, I wore the Emperor's new underwear to school today. Yes, I had to divulge that information.

I suspect our Head of Ground School is going to be very disappointed with all our results. Okay, maybe not the others, but especially mine. Out of the 3 subjects that I scored perfect, one of them I am VERY sure I am going to flunk, another one is the stupid subject mentioned above that was taught by the Instructor-that-shall-not-be-named, and the last one, which despite being tough, is my favourite, I did quite badly. In fact, I hope to scrap through by the skin of my teeth. Sigh, yes, it was that bad.

Which makes me draw a conclusion that I just can't perform during major examinations. Look way back to university exams, and I am really convinced. Maybe my luck ran out during A-Levels, which was the last time I did better than expected. Even the previous Tech Paper, I bombed one of the easiest papers. Next was the flying check, where I ballooned while landing, which I think I did once or twice during the previous.... 30 landings or so. And now this crap.

One more paper in 2 weeks, taught by the Instructor-who-shall-not-be-named. Historically, this paper has the highest casualty rate among cadets. I wonder why... first that subject, now this. Coincidence? Think about it...

Finally the last week of classes, with tests and tests everyday. Actually, if not for tests, there isn't anything else for us to do anyway. So, yeah, tests are good. They prepare us for the real thing. And good thing I am doing ok for them. Hope they will continue till the end. Next week will be the study week, meaning, NO CLASSES! Alrighty... but it's still studying for us. Just that, we'll be on our own instead. Parents will be coming down for CNY since the school took our passports for visa applications. They took it from us almost 3 weeks ago, and they only sent in for processing yesterday. That's like damn stupid and inefficient. They jolly well know that the Malaysians will want to go back home for CNY but they decide to do the applications right before CNY. Maybe they have their reasons, but if not, it's just quite dumb.

107 initiation just ended, and it was the most unhappening initiation ever. The batch was just not "on" enough. They were going through it with the wrong attitude. The "right" attitude would be to take it as fun and as a one-in-a-lifetime kind of thing. Although that's not very correct, because there will be another round once we go over to Perth. But I heard it will be much more "challenging" over there. Nonetheless, still want to go there.

In the midst of getting bored, 2 other guys and I decided to go back and play with the PS2. The two guys brought a water bomb each, and on the way back, we saw one of my housemates studying through his window. Wanting to play a prank, we decided to throw the bombs at the window to scare him, but somehow, the guys' aimings sucked! They all threw curling shots a la Bergkamp right through the window into the room. Luckily it was directed away from him, but it still pissed him off to come down and screw us all. And the best part was that we were busy playing with the PS2, and just ignored him while he was ranting away. Luckily I was spared since I didn't throw any bomb. Anyway, we appologized to him already and he is ok now. Phew.

Will be going back to camp tomorrow for the final mile of studying. I bet the college exams will be very tough. It'll be the coup de grace by the instructors before sending us for the exams.

Sigh.
