Okay, lots of exciting stuff happened these few days, but too bad for me, and you, the stupid network was crawling. Took me ages to load up even a website, and on top of that, I have to pay to wait. Nuts...

So, the big news is... I finally cleared 109! Weeee!!! What a great feeling it was. And I wasn't even supposed to go up yesterday. It was a last minute insertion which fortunately went out well. Basically, the best part of the whole episode was when the ATC congratulated me for my first solo. Nothing beats the first solo.

And on the last note, watch Star Wars, you must... Mmmm....

Today I got a taste of what I will be experiencing in, say, 7 months from now. Was on standby today, depending on weather. If it was bad, I would have been activated. Instead, it was surprisingly good. One day of fine weather in about a week, quite a rare occasion. So, the other guy got activated instead, and since I was already at the office, I was invited for a joyride. I must have said "Yes, of course" a little bit too enthusiastically when I was asked. But who wouldn't? So, I ran back, grabbed my camera, and was back at the apron in record time.

As expected, it was a good flight. It is a whole different experience as compared to what I have right now. Attitude is different, everything is happening so much faster, and of course, being a joyride, I didn't have to bother about a thing. Just had to enjoy the view, and hope that my camera memory did not run out halfway.

Back at my room now with a load of photos and videos. Would put them up now, but somehow, there seems to be something wrong with my photo links. No, my HTML is still fine. It's just the links. At the end of the flight, my instructor asked if I enjoyed the flight, and if it scared me of what is yet to come. Hearing that from him, I don't know if I should be scared or not. Geez...

Snapping back to reality, our medicals are finally here. And I really mean finally. It was 3 weeks since we sent the request, but somehow, the other party didn't receive our request. Luckily, I decided to check on the situation on Tuesday, and found out about it. Otherwise, I think will be waiting for the medicals till the cows come home. And it took them only 2 days to get them here. Alright, I take everything about lazy sluggish locals back.

That's just great... fantastic, in fact. But in an ironic way. After 2 months of waiting for the SPL, it is finally here with great aplomb. 109, here I come!

But,

The medical is still not here yet.

I'm getting quite tired of all these admin hiccups.

On a brighter note, the guys decided to do a "slight" makeover for me. As opposed to extreme makeover, mine didn't involve cutting my face. Just got a pair of shoes and jeans. And according to them, that will just be the beginning. I am beginning to feel like a project. Yeah, something to fill their time instead of sitting on our asses.

Speaking of sitting on asses, that is what I am actually doing now. The guys are out basking in the sun at the beach, enjoying the scenery, while I am blogging to kill time. I bet I will be up for 8AM. Please no... 9 maybe, but not 8. But looking at the weather now, I doubt it will be a go situation. Great stuff we have here. The "crap" we covered in Met actually happens here, as opposed to the boring hot-cloud-thunderstorm we get back home.

Damn, what is Hootie And The Blowfish still doing in my playlist...

It has been a while...

And what have I been doing during this while? Not much, really. Been visiting some local places, discovering CS in the LAN, improving WE8 on PS2, and that's about it. Had a visit to JDK Tower last week because of bad weather and many flights were canceled. Will be going over to Perth Radar tomorrow to check out the real deal, as opposed to the rather inferior-looking JDK Tower.

In between bumming around here, of course, I have been doing some actual work. Starting to get really challenging, and it sure is weird. One day, I can have a really good day. Followed by another. And then, suddenly, it becomes bad. Then the next one becomes good again.

Weird.

Next time I will be going up will be on Sunday. Better be a good one.

Besides that, I have also been busy with non-work related stuff. Well, not exactly non-work related. Rather, non-what-I-expected-to-be-doing work related stuff. So, have been typing minutes, editing briefing slides, and doing other menial works around the house. Oh, I cackle at the thought of fresh meat coming in next week. After what seems eternity (2 months IS eternity), our duties are coming to an end. Thank God. I thought I was going to go crazy drawing up the duty rosters, chasing after people to do their duties and also myself for doing duties. But luckily the guys have been quite responsible recently. The course meeting that Sunday must have really helped. But of course, one or two ignorant or idiotic people still around.

Instead of sitting on my ass doing nothing, I better get back to preparing for my work. Don't think I will be blogging much. At least while I have nothing much to say. Okay okay, maybe I will do one of the excursion tomorrow.
