On my way back home at City Hall MRT station, an elderly chinese couple made the mistake of asking me how to get to Tiong Bahru MRT station, in chinese. I did my best and apparently I said they had to go upstairs because they were on the wrong level. They went up, and I thought all was good until I saw them coming down the escalator a few minutes later. Good thing my train came by and I quickly scooted off before they spotted me.

I think I better do something about my practically non-existent mandarin.

Had a dinner at Serangoon Gardens last night, and I stuffed myself silly. There was the 5 dollars Char Kuay Teow (Capt Tucker's favourite), the sambal stingray, satay and to wash it all down was the supersize glass of sugar cane. While I was stumbling towards the car, I couldn't help but wonder why I am still the size I am with all the input I have been subjecting myself to. WYSI-not-WYG in this case.

I wonder, am I more of the islander or more the mainlander now. I spend about 5% of the year back at home. I don't know as many people back home as I do here. In fact, I don't think anybody back home knows about this blog. Good thing nobody from my house does.

It's not my fault that I am thinking about this. It has been eight years. It is a long time.

Day one of studying began this morning. But before that happened...

Weekend was busy sprucing the place up. We managed to sweep, vacuum and mop the place (most of the place anyway, don't look under the beds), buy plates, bowls and a stool for us to wear our shoes. Thinking of getting a shoe rack too. My room is great. Just a little bit too close to the MRT tracks. Well, I wanted near the MRT, I got it.

Back to today. We reported in at 9AM, four cadets and twelve direct entry guys. After the initial admin briefing, we were herded into the computer room aka the nap room. And there, we napped.

Hello there folks!

I is back! And I am now a East Side Massif! Bigupyourself to all you East Side Massif too!

Okay, back down to earth, I am back from Brisbane for good. Staying near the workplace too, which is good. More sleep is always good. My new pad is quite nice too. Nicely furnished. Just need to add some personal touches here and there.

And of course, first things first, I am hooked on to the internet. And no thieving involved this time. In fact, I think I better prevent some enterprising kid out there from getting free internet.

Work will start again on Monday. Should be loads of fun. Can't wait.
