After finding out about the GSS yesterday from SH, not the papers, decided to check out what the hype was all about. And so did about half of Singapore! Haven't seen Orchard Road so crowded, not counting the time I went to Orchard during Christmas in 2001 I think. Managed to grab a Gundam Strike model from Taka after getting interrogated by a kid about the anime series. I should have spoilt the show for him and told him the ending. Hahaha!

After getting the model and running the gauntlet of screaming and crying kids, Oli, Long and I went over to John Little. Got some important stuff like socks, belts, etc. Saw Calvin from hockey working there too. Next on the list was a tie from Robinson. And I saw the exact same belt at 2 dollars less than what I paid. And to think I had to cross the road to pay 2 dollars more. Dammit.

After that, walked all the way to Plaza Sing to meet up with Ris to have dinner. Decided to eat at KFC which was jammed pack. Managed to grab a table for 2 people, before grabbing another table from a couple who gave us the extra table at their place. I think they must have heard Oli saying quite loudly about them taking a place for 4 people when there were only 2. Well, it worked.

Then after bumming about at Carrefour, where Long was supposed to buy a mirror but didn't, we went back. Legs and shoulders aching. That means that 6 hours of shopping is the limit for me. Not a minute more.

Next on my list: Imprezza model.

Just had our "house warming" with loads, and LOADS of food. Thanks to wanying for her amazing cooking skills. Me, having zero cooking skills, was assigned to cut spring onions and preparing the food to be cooked. Surprisingly, Ris, Long and Oli knew their stuff too. So, we prepared spaghetti, fried rice, rosti and some kind of noodes. There was still soup, but that would have been too much. There was already too much food already. In the end, we had to dump some of the extras. In the end, the people who came were wanying, junda, km, chris, lbs, dazehead, joo, jinsheng, rohana, ryan, yvonne, chin hooi... and I think that's it. I might have forgotten a name or two. Don't blame me, it's 2AM. After everyone left, it was back to cleaning the whole place, especially the kitchen. I doubt we'll be doing much cooking tomorrow onwards.

Okay, so now that we're done with the house warming, we can look forward to other people to follow suit. Who's next?

One more episode till the end of 24 season 3! Can't wait for it to be out tonight. Overall, this hasn't been a great season. Definitely can't compare with season 2, but still acceptable. The second half of the season was really great. The first half with Salazar was quite... dumb. But, became much better later on.

Yesterday was a real busy day. Checked out of hall, where I met a whole lot of other final years also shifting out. Everyone leaving to the last day to move out. After checking out, went to open a UOB account, so I can put all my hard-earned money in. Then, can easily differentiate my own money from my parents'. After one hour in UOB bank, where the aircond was just great since it was so damn hot, I then went over to Jurong East to fix my handphone. One of the buttons was quite insensitive, and I had a software upgrade. Much nicer to use now. Should have done that earlier.

Today it finally rained! Room feels much nicer and cooler now. But I bet Long will still turn on aircond tonight. He turns it on everynight! Argh! Wait till the electricity bill comes. That will wake up his ideas.

Called my S*A today, and they told me that there is a course starting July 2nd. Since commencement is 11th July, I can't go for it. Furthermore, it will be for S*ACargo and S*lkair! No, I don't want! I wanna fly further away! Okay, so I told them I can't go for that, and I will wait for S*A course. They said I have to prepare to wait quite long. Sigh. Think I'll get a part time job in the meantime. Or maybe I should watch more movies and play more PS2... decisions, decisions...

Finally back online. Starhub guys came this morning to activate the points. Apparently the previous people didn't do that during the free activation period, and because of that, we are all 30 bucks poorer. Crap.

Since we had no internet for a week, I basically went out everyday to kill off the boredom. Apart from going out, I only had TV and PS2 to keep me entertained. So, Thursday night was at Harbourfront eating Sushi with LBS, CP, WY, Rohana, Ryan, Cat and Junda. First time eating at Sakaesushi, and the next morning, my visitS to the toilet told me that >15 plates of sushi is too much raw food for one meal. Ok, point noted. Then Friday was Troy day. The movie was good. But not that great. But still, worth watching in cinema. Movie was on Jenny, since Ris and I helped her shift her stuff to Punggol the previous week. So, that was Friday. Then Saturday was to help Jenny move the remaining of her crap to Punggol. So yet another trip to Punggol. I think that is enough of the north east for a while... Next... Sunday. Sunday lunch was at Thai Express with WY, Rohana, Junda, JinSheng, Chin and Yvonne. After lunch, we spent bumming at Coffee Express. Had a Tiramisu without any alcohol. Tasted weird...

Aside from that, we have the neighbour from hell!!! Yup, the neighbour downstairs. Okay, the first day we moved in, they came complaining already. Sure the reason was valid, thanks to Ris, who was hammering away past 1AM. And the other 3 were too pussy to come out and open the door when the bell was ringing, so I was the bad guy. Sheesh. Next complaint was the following day. This time, the grandmother came and complain that our mop was dripping water on her clothes. Okay, quite valid also. This time, Ris was the culprit since he woke up. And he speaks hokkien too, so helped a bit. However, the last one really was too much. She came this morning, complaining that we poured water into her kitchen. What the f*ck?? As if we have nothing else better to do. Anymore of this nonsense and we're gonna get real pissed.

Okay, enough rambling for now. Happy that we got internet. Weeeee!!!

In school now, to check my results. Sucky as usual. Can't blog long for now. Anyway, stupid MaxOnline is taking forever to be activated.

::.. Saturday, May 15, 2004 ..::

Darn it! After typing a really long post, blogger decided to play a sick trick on me and because of that, I lost my entire post. Sigh. So here is a summarized version of my original post. Thursday afternoon, I went to have lunch with Chin, Rohana and Dan Lee at an Indian buffet restaurant near City Hall. Hmmm... I almost typed Raffles Place. And I actually did come off at Raffles Place instead. What's wrong with me? Ok, so lunch was at City Hall. After that, Chin abandoned us, so the remaining three of us walked around Orchard Road instead. Kind of bummed around, until I felt like I was going to fall asleep right on the roads, which were crawling with secondary school and JC kids. I don't remember roaming the streets during my JC days. Don't these people have tutorials, ECAs and studying to do? Maybe these people are too smart, so they don't have to study much...

Then later that night, Long, Oli and I went over to our new place to pay our first month rent and also to collect our keys. The place was cleaned up quite well, so not much problems. My room also has a bedside table, so I can scratch that out of my Ikea list. Actually, I can scratch out a lot of things out of my Ikea list because I will be expected to spend a lot of time, not at "home", but rather, at the base. We'll see how it goes.

So Friday morning was the medical, which took me until 3PM! 6 of us out of the original 10 people made the cut. I really don't know what is their criteria, since I personally felt that all 10 of us were not too bad. So I guess luck really played a huge part in the selection process. Quite lazy to talk about the medical, except that one guy almost fainted after drawing blood! His face was all pale, I thought he was really going to pass out. Must be some kind of phobia with blood.

Friday night, again went out. Wow, I'm really happening! Haha. This time, for dinner with KM, Jenny and Maff. Dinner was at NYDC at suntec, since Maff is leaving to USA next week. She's going to San Fran, and DAMN, I want to go too!

So, that's it for the past two days. Today is another big day... moving day! And I still haven't finished packing! Loads of rubbish everywhere. Sigh. Okay, time to pack. Till I set up an internet connection at the new place, this shall be my last post.
Wow, what a busy week it has been! So, once again, we need a recap:

Thursday:
After getting the results, I went out to have lunch with Dan Lee, Chin and Rohana. I stupidly came off at the wrong MRT station, and had to go back on the train and waste 64 cents. Anyway, lunch was at this Indian buffet restaurant. Food was good, but it sure was hot!! Also managed to see the new plastic dollar notes. Feels almost the same as paper, but... it's plastic. Anyway, after that, we just walked about, went to Orchard, walked around even more. Was at Courts, seeing if I needed any stuff for our new place. Nothing much for now.

Then at night, went to our new place to check it out, collect keys, and to pay rent for the first month. Everything looks good. Except the stupid TV still was not fixed. Will be done soon, she said. The neighbours seem quite ok also. Nothing rowdy or messy.

Friday:
Went for my medical checkup. Found out that 6 out of the 10 of us who went for the second round of interviews made it through. Not sure how the panel selected us, because the rest of them seemed quite ok also. I guess we were lucky. Very lucky. There were two places we had to go for the medical checkup. One was at a clinic at Raffles Place, the other was at Gleneagles. I was second last, so I waited for the last guy to come out before we both went to Gleneagles. But, since we were both starving, we decided to have lunch at BK at RP first. Big mistake... by the time we reached Gleneagles, the doctor had already gone for his lunch break. So, we rotted, and by the time we left, it wa 330PM, 3 hours after the other guys left. After reaching back, it was more packing. Then, back to City Hall again for dinner with KM, Jenny and Maff. Maff's off to USA next week for work and studies. So fun. I also want! I want to reside in New York, the Big Apple. But, we'll see if that happens eh? So, after dinner at NYDC, we headed off to Starbucks to chat and have a cup of mocha. Yakked and yakked until we got tired, and we were off back home.

Almost done with packing. Only left with my clothes, my computer, my computer table and the fridge.

Big moving day tomorrow. Any help will be much appreciated. Please head to block 5 of RH anytime. Be there or be square!

::.. Thursday, May 13, 2004 ..::

And I got it!!!! Yes!!!!! Going for my medical tomorrow. For those who have already reserved seats for treats, come back again 2 years, after the flying course. I still might fail you know. But for now, yeah, I'm like "woohooo!!!!!!"

::.. Wednesday, May 12, 2004 ..::

Forgive me for missing out on my post yesterday. Was going to blog, but then someone came in and hogged my computer for 2 hours. Never mind, I was too tired to do anything yesterday anyway. So, here's a recap:

Tuesday
Left hall at 930AM to go to Tanah Merah. However, I wasn't too sure of the 96 bus frequency, so decided to take 188 to Harbour Front, get on the NEL, come off at Outram Park, and go all the way east. So off I went. Reached STC at about 11AM. After checking in, I met another interviewee who was also from EE. I recognized him from one of our common modules, but he didn't recognize me. Damn... Anyway, STC was crawling with babes! Compared to Engineering Fac, this place is like heaven! So, had the aptitude test in the afternoon, which was quite fun, but mentally tiring. Took me 2 1/2 hours to complete everything. After that, I more or less knew all the interviewees. There were 10 of us in there. 4 of us just graduated, while the other 6 are currently holding jobs. Reached back hall at about 610PM with dying legs. Had to stand all the way back from Tanah Merah.

Wednesday
Left hall at 630AM this time. Boy, I was half dead. Reached STC this time at 8AM, and met up with the rest of the people again. This time, we had a situational test in the morning, which was to let the panel see how we work in groups. So, we had different opportunities to be leaders and to follow instructions. It was quite fun actually. We designed an airport, and constructed a control tower using lego blocks. After the fun, we had lunch at the canteen, where we had food for the body, and food for the eyes. Ahhh... like I said, heaven. Afternoon was when we had our final interview. My teeth were literally chattering and my knees were knocking together. Must have been their idea to turn the thermostat wayyyyyy low to make us feel worse. Interview took me about 20 minutes, which apparently was the longest. Asked me all sorts of questions. Too lazy to type down now. Haha. After that, we had a tea party whereby we mingled with the interviewers who comprised of captains and HR personnel. One pilot had a lot of experience flying planes, helicopters, and even had a great knowledge of WRZs. Wow. And he is close to 60. At the end of the day, we all exchanged numbers, promising to sms each other if we get good news tomorrow. Although we only met the day before, we became quite close. Pressure must have brought us together.

Tomorrow, will be the moment of truth. Either I'm almost all done, or I'm back to job searching. Sigh

::.. Monday, May 10, 2004 ..::

Cool, blogger has a new interface. Looks nice, but will take some time getting used to it. Today has been a really hot day. Excellent. Good day to do my laundry. Time to make use of free water in hall before I move out.

Oh yeah, Jinsheng is moving to Yew Tee too... block 639, just next to our block 640. How coincidental...

::.. Sunday, May 09, 2004 ..::

Went over to Simei for a dinner treat by Stan. Was with the other guys from his batch as well as my other namesake. And it was a strictly all-guys night out. Food was good. Didn't know he knew how to cook that well. We had some kind of weird bread which tasted real good, brown rice, chicken with wine, some funny brinjal (Think this is how it's spelt) and of course, apple juice. No longan biscuits this time... After dinner, we checked out his room, which was made in Sweden. To be more specific, made in Ikea. Everything from his bed, his tables, his closet... were all from Ikea. But they were very nice. I think his table was custom built from the wood by them. Very cosy. Add a nice comfortable mattress, soft pillows, and an aircond, and I could have fallen asleep there. Almost... Later on, we had chocolate fondue with strawberries. Very nice! I shall try that next time. Had some nice chats, talking about what to do in future, while Perd kept moaning about his state of "stagnation". Not too sure what that means. At around 11pm, we all decided to call it a day, and I reached hall at 1145pm.

Woke up this morning sweating like a pig. Wait a minute... why isn't the fan on? Oh craps, forgot that the electricity was cut for some maintainance work. So I crawled out of bed, and headed straight for the shower. Hey, why is the water so cold? Oh yeah, the electricity is out. Time to turn on the computer. Hey it's not working! Oh... the electricity is... yeah, it's out.

So after lunch, instead of cooking myself in my room, I decided to go to town. Nobody was around, so poor me went to Ikea... alone. Looked through some nice furniture that I think will look quite nice in my new room. Have decided that I will get myself a book cabinet/shelves, a set of drawers and a bed table. If really necessary, I might need to get a table on top of my computer table. But, all in due time... After getting bored at looking at stuff and not buying them, I decided to take a 14 to town, where I went to meet Jinsheng, who was also melting in hall. That was the first time I was on a 14 in 4 years. Before university, that was my trusty bus to get me from ACS to town. Hmmm.. the good memories came rushing back into my mind as the bus drove past Touch Community Centre, River Valley Road, Patterson Road.... right. Anyway I reached town first, so I decided to look around, and I plonked myself nicely in Kinokunya. Picked up "Dude Where's My Country" by Michael Moore. After reading his first book "Stupid White Men", I'm sure this book will be a good read. There were several other books that I think will be good too, but no money to buy. Sigh. Think I'll be a member of the National Library. After meeting up with Jinsheng, we walked about more, and went over to Cineleisure. First time I was there since watching 2Fast2Furious. So, the place was also a bit different. For a moment, I couldn't find the arcade. No more laser mania. A lot of good memories in there too...

Went to have dinner at Harbour Front with Ris, Joo and Jinsheng. Food was okay. Place was alright. The babes were "yeah baby yeah". Loads of them. Man, Ris sure knows where to find the chicks. After more loafing about, decided to come back to hall. Luckily the electricity came back on. And my fridge almost got flooded. That was a close one.

So, finally got off my lazy ass to go to town today. The electricity cut was a blessing in disguise. If it weren't for the cut, I would have rotted myself in my room instead. Haha. Okay, that's enough excitement for one day. Time to read up for my interview on Tuesday.

::.. Thursday, May 06, 2004 ..::

Just submitted the final copy of my thesis to my examiner. So I guess that's it. Uni life is unofficially over. It will be officially over only once I get my cert, which will be in July.

Let's list down how my job application is coming along:

Passed first round of interview:
SIA

Reached first round of interview:
Marvell

No reply after application:
UMCi
Allegro
HP
Chartered Semiconductors
STMicroelectronics
Singapore Technologies
Keppel
SIA Engineering
Venture

Not allowed to take application form:
Tech Semiconductors

Very sad list... And I'm dying of boredom in Singapore. I'll rather go back and be bored at home instead. At least I have a set of wheels to bring me around town to entertain myself.
Went for yet another interview today. But it was a part time job interview. Met one of my juniors there today. Almost forgot her name, but we didn't say anything to each other. Just smiled, and walked on. Anyway, the interview was a bit crappy. I'm not getting it. Too many people with experience in that field around also. So, more days of bumming.

Eric has a convict hairstyle.

Argh!!! I'm obsessed over Elisha Cuthbert! Ok, in season 1 of 24, she wasn't that great, especially with her reddish hair. But in season 2, whoa momma! The girl is now a woman. Hot hot! And now in season 3, I must keep focus on the show, and not on her. And having watched The Girl Next Door, I am totally obsessed over her. The previous actress that I got all crazy about before this was Kathy Evison, though I doubt anyone of you readers remember her or ever knew her.

So, I think I'll have a small column on the right, called ::.. Obsessions ..:: . So, for now, it's going to be Elisha Cuthbert.
