There is something definitely wrong with my computer. The CPU temperature is now at 67C. It's literally roasting. Something is wrong with the heat sink, the thermal paste, or maybe even the video card. Sigh. More problems...
Dammit! I can't play any games because of the stupid temperature problem! It started with cm, then C&C:Generals, and now RollerCoaster Tycoon! Could it be the real deal, or is it just a false alarm? Either way, it's depriving me of fun!
Daniel, the idiot, thought that it would be a smart idea to make his IP address a static one, and do port forwarding so that he can download faster (it is at a measly 1 kbps now). The joy was shortlived, because all it did was cause everybody's computer to be disconnected from the network. And because of that, I was offline for the entire night. Sigh. Anyway, everything is back to normal again.

I forgot to mention that last week during lunch at the food court near my place, I saw a cockroach walking around the food counter of the stall that I was buying food from. Yuck. Maybe that's why I fell sick the week before. Cockroaches...
It's been a crazy week of fighting off mosquitoes while I sleep! Seletar mosquitoes are more ninja than even Lumut mosquitoes. At least those in Lumut will be scared off by mosquito coils, but not our friends over in Seletar. They attack in swarms! The worst was on Sunday night when I woke up and killed 7 mosquitoes, leaving my hands all bloody. Literally bloody. Couldn't take it anymore and decided to switch on the aircond for Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Shhh... not allowed actually.

On Thursday, a girl decided to drive her car into the drain opposite my house. Maybe not purpose, but being a female driver, it just could have been. Anyway, I digress. Shall divulge more on female drivers on another post. The car must have been speeding when it was coming out of the car park because the wheel was left hanging over the drain quite a distant from the pavement. Being a female driver, and not a bad looking one if I may add, a whole swarm of guys came over to help. Most to eye power, both the car and the girl. We couldn't do anything much to get it out without damaging the under-carriage, so she called AA. While we headed off to our homes, my classmate told her "We'll be going off now. If you need anything, just call us. We live around here only." So, we headed off home to have our usual round of shoot-o, when we heard her call us around 730pm. She came all the way to our house, thanked my friend, and what did our hero do? Nothing. Sigh, that's sad man.

More guys from the previous batch will be joining our batch for next week since they got their results. 13 of them passed, with the remaining 6 with partial passes. And they crashed and burned in subjects like Airlaw, Met, which are all mugging subjects. That's why I don't believe in last minute mugging... speaking of mugging, next week will be my last week for classes. The following week, which happens to be CNY, will be our study week aka holiday. And my roommate is still in trouble with his studies. The problem with him is that he doesn't understand the concepts! I have taught him how to calculate the scale of a Mercator chart at different parallels of lattitudes so many times, but he still doesn't understand. Because he memorizes the steps, not the concept. If he asks me again, I am going to ask back "Can I scold you?" Haha. But it's for his own good too. We're running out of time...

Had dinner over at CHIJMES tonight, at a Brazillian restaurant called Carnivores, and it sure lived up to its name. It was meat and more meat for dinner. And I was stuffed to the rim to the point of glutony. But the food was good. Lamb meat was tender, and I had chicken heart. Yummy... It has been a while since I have eaten such good food. In fact, the last time I did was in Europe... mainly because of my travel partner. Haha. Not that it was a bad thing. Just wasn't used to too good food. Before that, it was mostly S11 for me.

Have a dilemma... who has ideas?

Should I bring my computer over to Perth? If yes, then I will courier my CPU over and hand-carry my LCD monitor on the plane. If not, I will have to leave it over in Singapore and let it rot for a year. Another option would be to sell my computer (anybody wants my AMD 2600 with 512 DDR RAM, 80 GB HDD, GeForce4 Ti4200 AGP2x, SB Live!, 52X CD-burner?) and get a laptop.

Help.
Mark McGrath is the new American Idol judge! No wonder he looked so familiar when I saw him. Ris guessed that he was Ethan Hawke. Hah! Tough luck man. I win. Muahahhahaha...

Went to Cafe Cartel with a whole lot of people for dinner. Main reason was because Ah Joo and Jenny will be going off to Italy soon for their training. Anyway, the dinner was just so-so. I can't understand why there is constantly a long queue of people waiting outside for a seat. Joyce had her dinner served half an hour after ordering. By then, I was already finishing my food. Oh, and before that, we asked the waitress outside to get a table for 9 for us. But instead, she gave the table away to ANOTHER group of 9 people. So, half an hour wasted on that. I could have watched more of AMI with that half hour...

Remember last week I was talking about doing well in tests? Well, I figured out the reason already. The culprit is PS2! Yes, the PS2 is the devil! I barely had enough time to study these few days because of it. And because of that, my marks went down. But not low enough to fail. Still waiting for the bubble to burst. It is bound to happen. My friend are counting down too.

And 4 more weeks to the exams. Sigh.

Woke up this morning with a really bad stomachache. Nothing to shit out either. Heh. Pain was so bad that I couldn't sleep at all. So, went over to the mrt station to see if there is a 24 hour clinic there. And no, there wasn't. The walk there was quite bad, felt like puking the whole way there.

Then, tried to sleep before going over again at 9AM. This time I did puke, but luckily for me, and residents of my block, I cleared everything in the toilet. Doctors fee cost me 26 dollars. Hope it's just a bad case of food poisoning and not appendicitis (however it is spelt).

Feeling much much better now. Intestines don't feel very cramped up. Think I will go back now.

See you next week.

Ris is the best! Not only did I get the first episode of 24, I got the first four episodes!! YEAH BABY YEAH!

But...

Chloe and Jack are the only remaining cast from the previous season, which means... KIM BAUER IS GONE! God dammit man! But, at least there is a substitute character whose job is to keep guys like me glued to the show. 24 rocks...
Sigh, I still haven't watched 24. And Ris is out, so I can't get the file from him.

I have now collected my 3rd Prudential name card from the streets! Quite a collection I am going to make. The latest one was just at the YT mrt station. I think when I come off at Woodlands mrt station, I will be collecting yet another one.

Okay, Ris is very nice. He sent me the 24 episode, but somehow the network has some problems. I always get disconnected. And it's only MY connection. The other guys have no problems. God dammit...
Oh yes, one important thing to mention... 24 season 4 is out! YESSSSSSSSSS!!!! And I can't watch it now because Ris doesn't want to download it. NOOOOOOO!!!! Sigh. Time to download it now.
Forgive my long absence. Yes, I do have a good reason, and that being tests. Tests everyday for the past 2 weeks. This is even worse than university. However, I doubt I am studying more than I did in university. But then, why am I doing so well for my tests? Haha. What a change from uni days when I slogged like crazy and still got crappy grades. Ahh... life is good again. But I think I'm setting too high standards for myself. Someday, the bubble is going to burst. I just know it. And of course, I will update you when that happens.

Also, can't really have much time sitting around blogging when I have to clean the house, pay bills, run errands, and play my computer games during the weekends. I have a life too, you know. But surprisingly, I am back early today. Class ended early today, and I decided to make a run for the 168 early today. And not surprisingly, the bus left the bus stop just when I was reaching the bus stop. That happens ALMOST every week. Sigh.

This week, two guys from the previous course got demoted to my course because they flunked their college exams. Seems like the powers-that-be are getting really trigger-happy with issuing the golden handshake. And sure enough, one of the two got the boot today. Previously, getting sacked at this early stage was practically unheard of, but it seems to have become a nasty habit recently. Obvious proof that the company has been over-recruiting. Maybe some of the instructors should teach them a thing or two about "over-correcting". Never follow the instruments.

And that is all for today. Or maybe, for this week...

Ok, I actually have time to jot down some important stuff about the year that just passed. Hopefully, my memory does not fail me. So, here goes:

1. Did my FYP, and one thing I learnt from my masters student was frustration management. For more info, check the posts during the early part of 2004.
2. Had fun with the final year presentation during DND which, in my humble opinion, one of the best final year presentations in a DND.
3. The biatch in the hall office, but, a little bit too late.
4. Started going to church again. Not so regular, but hey, at least I have started. Haha.
5. Got my first job, which I hope will be my last.
6. Threw personal hygiene and comfort out of the window in Pangkor. I have been there twice, and for both times, they were for the same reason.
7. Went to Redang, more relaxing than Pangkor. Never knew sea water could be so clear.

Can't think of anymore, but I'm sure there are more. Hey, it's 12:25 am. I am normally... studying, at this hour. So don't blame me for not remembering. All I can think about now are gyros, AH, INS, RMI, Altimeters... argh! I'm going mad!

::.. Saturday, January 01, 2005 ..::

Went to have dinner at Jurong Point with EeHong, Joyce and Jenny just now. And I managed to make use of my staff discount for the first time since getting it. It feels good. Haha. It was nothing much actually, just 10% off at Fish and Co. But, still better than nothing I guess.

Still haven't found any other use for the card. Other than pubs, discos, hotels, and Fish and Co, anybody knows how else can I exploit this card?

Nothing much to say except Happy New Year!

Phantom of the Opera was an ok movie. It is a direct changeover from the theater to the screen. So nothing special about it, except the sets and costumes were extravagant.

Will be taking a break this weekend, although I have 3 tests waiting for me next week. I should start studying tomorrow.
