When I first arrived here, it was HOT! As in, really so hot that when you walk under the shades, you actually feel your skin being heated up. Almost like when you put your hands under the dryer in the toilets. But now, it's a whole different story! It is so cold that when I walk over to the toilet, I'm practically shivering with my teeth chattering. For my 9AM flight yesterday, I'm still amazed that I managed to drain the fuel tanks. My hands shook so much and I think I spilled half of the fuel I drained on to the tarmac. And no wonder that the ATIS said that the temperature was 8. Yes, it's single digits now. It's even cold during the days. Argh... how will I survive...

The remainder of my course, minus one guy, just arrived yesterday. Finally, fresh meat to help do our slave work. No, I say we should give ALL the work to them. Yes, since we had to do all these crap for the past 5 weeks, while they had a ball of a time going back to Malaysia, and a certain somebody went for a holiday. The cheek to actually do that... Anyway, for the last guy, things aren't looking too good for him. Really wasted because he should be good at flying with his licence. Can only hope that he will not be the latest guy to bite the dust.

And a big surprise for the junior course who thought they could skip OBS. Not only are they going for it, the timing of their OBS course really sucks. They should be at Ubin now as I type, having a ball of a time.... yeah right! Haha! Happy jogging guys. Worst part is that they will have about 1 week or 2 to study for whatever papers they have to resit when they get back. I guess solo camp will not be a time of reflection (gag), but rather, study time. Tough luck. Luckily I am not in that course.

Did I mention that I finished watching season 1 of the OC? Yes, what a great soap opera. I can't believe I am watching this when I practically skipped the entire Beverly Hills 90210 craze ten years ago. And now I am obsessed with a bunch of kids having a time of their lives with wads of cash to spend. I should have watched BH90210 or Party of Five ages ago instead! And thank God my friend brought season 2 over. Just 2 days without watching and I am starting to suffer from OC withdrawal symptoms.

::.. Sunday, April 24, 2005 ..::

So I haven't flown for a week. One whole week. I will be really rusty when I go up next, which I sincerely hope will be tomorrow. In the meantime, what have I done... Let me see, I have watched 20 episodes of the OC season 1. I took a trip over to Fremantle, checked out the oh-so-famous-but-expensive fish and chips, the great beaches and surfs. Been eating too much fries from McDonalds too. Now I understand why the locals can have BTLs (Billiard Table Legs). There just isn't anything else to do other than to eat, and eat more.

I'm a bummer. Nothing to do other than to bum around the room.

More OC now...

::.. Monday, April 18, 2005 ..::

What a beautiful day for flying today! CAVOK (Meaning no clouds, good visibility, no rain, no nothing), a bit of turbulence... great day for stalls and steep turns! Steep turns sure make you feel like you are going to fall out of your seat and land right on top of your instructor. Stalling is quite simple once you learn the steps and procedure. Landing was once again a touch-and-go. Gotta settle that problem fast.

Instructor going to be on leave agian. For a week. Doesn't mean I am going to sit on my ass. Still have to fly, but still no sign of the SPL. Dammit.

The steep turns have given me a headache. Need rest... now...

::.. Thursday, April 14, 2005 ..::

Today's sortie was changed to a repeat because I did not get to do one of the stuff that I was supposed to do. The activity was stalling, which was a whole lot more fun than the one I did in Singapore. This plane is so stable, it hardly felt like it was stalling. Back in Singapore, the plane felt like it was going to nose dive into the ground. With this plane now, it is so gentle, not like a roller coaster at all. But next sortie, my instructor is going to show me the limits of the aircraft. Maybe he'll do some inverted flight, spiral dives and the sort. Weee... I hope I don't puke.

Oh yeah, no compensation for my broken LCD monitor. They said I signed saying that the consignment was in good condition. Okay, maybe it is my fault. But having said that, they could have made an exception in my case. So, I won't be making use of their service again. Which is kind of ironic, if you know the actual situation. Will not be stating it here of course!

I don't know what's the big hype about the pub down in Perth City. After paying it a visit yesterday, I can say that it pales in comparison to the other big pubs back in Singapore. But I guess that's the best that this place can offer. So, after spending some time over there, the guys and I decided to visit a cafe just out of the city. Took quite a while getting lost on the way there, but we eventually found it, thanks to our fantastic navigation skills. Hail Tudu. This place reminded me of NYDC or Dome. The ambience is good, the prices are just as expensive, and the location is good too. In the end, we left about 1:30AM with everyone almost half dead. Found our way back after making a huge detour because we went north instead of south. Better brush up our navigation...

My primary instructor is back. Going to be flying with him tomorrow. Quite nervous after hearing all the stories about him from the other guys. Hope I will get through with him.

Again, more problems with the SPL. Think it will arrive in 9 weeks or so. This sucks!

So like I said much earlier on, we were going to have another round of initiation here in JDK. And so we had, on Friday night. As usual, many drinks to go around, and yeah thats about it. Drink, drink and drink. And answer some questions by the seniors.

Saturday morning was fun, my friends and I took a trip over to Scarborough Beach over to the north. The beach was very clean and nice, and the water was really blue. Not only was it blue, it was freezing. So was the air. There were lots of people there, but who cares about the guys. The babes were there to sunbathe, and we were there to check them out. Yummy.

Other than that, not much flying recently. My primary instructor is on leave, and my secondary instructor is getting married. So that makes it 2 hours of flying in 3 weeks. What a pathetic statistic. To fill my time, I've been watching movies, and playing Quake3 with the other guys. I have almost forgotten how fun LAN games were.

Finally, the new bunch of guys have arrived from Singapore. Three of them checked in today, and thank God one of them is the course leader. At last, someone to take over my job! Planning, delegating jobs, being the middle man and trying to please everyone sure is a tiring job. And some people are just not understanding. For every small matter, they come running to me to fix it when they can easily just use a little effort to solve the problem themselves. Sigh. Time to put my foot down and show them who's boss. But not necessary anymore now that the legendary ma-tiao has landed.

And my instructor is going to be away for a very, VERY long time. Going to look for my secondary one tomorrow or else I will not be flying for a few more weeks. But looking at the weather these few days, I don't think I will also be flying under the new instructor. After studying frontal activities in met during ground studies, I got to see what happens first hand here. Quite fascinating really. And drizzle over here is really a drizzle. It feels like somebody spraying water from the spray to iron clothes container over you. The drizzles in Singapore should be +DZ or SH.

Oh yeah, and since the new guys came in today, we decided to go out as a course to Perth City. And even on a Friday night, the place is still very quiet. Not like Singapore. First, we had kebab dinner at a fast food outlet, where the person serving us was a Chinese student from PRC. And as usual, our casanovas came out with all guns blazing, just missing out on a phone number. It's okay, from now on, we'll all get discounts when we eat there. Haha.

After that, we decided to go to a strip bar. Yes, pick up your jaws from your toes, I said it right. Just like the movie Closer, there were poles, bar tops, and stark naked girls prancing around the place. Their pole dancing will put our RH pole dancers to shame. They should get a few pointers by coming over here. Maybe OAC can arrange an outing over here. There was a cover charge of 5 dollars, and if you want "stuff" to happen, you buy 1 dollar coupons from the counter to tip the dancers who will do "stuff" for you. And my good friend decided to tell one of them that it was my birthday, which by the way, isn't, and I got a faceful of boobs. Thanks a bunch. Actually, not bad boobs too. Haha.

Drove back with the empty tank sign on the whole way. I better top it up tomorrow morning. Oh yeah, and one of the cars got stopped by the cops because we were gathering around the car park for too long. A bunch of migrants grouping up? They must be up to something...
