Chi Anh is finally back

Had our briefing for that airport welcome thingy this morning at 1030AM, which I almost missed. Woke up at 1010AM, thank God Oliver phoned me to wake me up. I took one look in the conference room and I knew straight away that I will still be a poor pauper. There were around 80 people in the room! Damn... so I ended up with only three lousy slots, giving me a grand gross total of S$90. And I still have not included food and transportation. Ah well, it's better than nothing. And I am paired up with some strangers that I do not know. Well, the important thing is that I get to welcome international students to the wonderful world of the National University of Singapore! Yeah... will they enjoy it here. Hahaha... and I've got a really cool t-shirt which comes with the job. A bright blue t-shirt with the words "Office of Student Affairs WELCOME International Students". I am NOT going to wear that t-shirt ever again.

After that, I headed off to the airport with Junhao, who was kind enough to give me a lift to the airport and meet Chi Anh. Also, it shows what a great student of NUS I am, checking out the airport to welcome the international students next week. Hahah. Like real. So, we arrived at 1PM at the airport, and scratched the van next to us while parking. Not my fault, I was thinking when he was parking "say, aren't we a bit too close to the car in front?" The scraping sound confirmed my thoughts. So, plane landing at 125PM. People started coming out only at 2PM. Both of us were yawning and dozing off. Anyway spotted her inside waiting to get her big-momma suitcase. So, off we went to Kuok Foundation House. Got into her room, which is not bad. Facing RH and at level 4. Set up her speakers, which are realllllly cool. Can hear all the way from the lift. But the slim thingy, kinda cheating. I see one big bulk at the bottom of the "slim". So, not really slim, unlike MY ATP3. Haha. But, still a very good deal for S$49.

So now, nothing much to do. Banned from making another car, sigh. So, it's C&C Generals for me then.

Oh, a new blog.... this time by Kuan Meng, who is in a dillusion, thinking he is a certain Mithril...

GeForce 4 Ti4400 rocks!

Suddenly, C&C days are brighter, and the dark clouds of jerky movements are gone. But I'm not S$189 poorer now. On top of that, I got myself a USB 2.0 PCI card, which conveniently does not fit into my motherboard, which is stange because it fits fine into Ris' motherboard. Dammit, what am I gonna do about this card now... Shall try to force it in another day.

Read at the Creative website that they have added more items to their warehouse sale. The sadists just love to watch people queue for hours...

Oh yes, was supposed to watch Hulk today, but it was cancelled because "somebody" has an audition tomorrow morning, and she needs to learn her lines, warm up her vocal chords, and all the other bla bla stuff that I know nuts about. So, maybe next week. Sigh, prima donas. What a boring night...

::.. Thursday, June 26, 2003 ..::

I just spent THREE hours lining up at Creative warehouse because I had to buy a speaker set for Chi Anh. Yeah, that is THREE hours, from 3PM to 6PM, just to get into the warehouse. And when I got into the warehouse, there were hardly any of the speakers left, around five left actually. Luckily I got into the warehouse in time. If someone were to tell me that I lined up three hours to be told to come back another day when the stocks are replenished, I would have raped someone right there itself! Yeah, I'll be that mad. Haha... So, Chin Long, Ris and Chi Anh are now all proud owners of Creative Inspire 2.1 Slim 2600. Oliver almost became a proud owner of a Nomad which, unforunately, was sold out at around 4PM. A few people during the three hours. Yeah, go home, let us take your space.

Think I will get myself a GeForce4 Ti4400 to replace my Geforce ONE. I'll bring my Geforce One back to my home computer, I think the one back home is even older. Was contemplating on an Audigy2, but then, I figure I might as well wait till next year and get an Audigy3 instead. The difference in performance should be much much better, Live! Value -> Audigy3... I can't wait till next year. On top of the graphics card, I think I shall get myself a USB 2.0 PCI card. I am just too sick of removing the printer USB cable with the digital camera USB cable all the time! S$15 bucks on the USB card should do the trick. So, it's off to Sim Lim Square tomorrow afternoon. Taking any volunteers who wants to come with me. Anyone?
At long last, my car is done, albeit a cripped one. Yes, you heard it right, a crippled car. What else do you call a car with a broken suspension axel? Sigh... luckily I managed to salvage whatever damaged that was caused by, ahem, me... Alright, alright! It was me! But the goddamn wheel just refused to go in! And the damn plastic couldn't take just a little pressure? So, with the damaged car, just a gentle reminder that if anyone were to come into my room and try driving my car, he or she is gonna taste fist. In other words, hands off!

So, that's it for my car modelling for now. Maybe will build another model of the Impreza. I have a whole can of blue anyway. Don't want to see it go to waste.

::.. Wednesday, June 25, 2003 ..::

Ahhh... finally got my glasses done. Been walking around half-blind for almost two months. When I first looked for my glasses, I thought it was in the library. Then at the library, I thought it was in my room. When I finally wised up, it was exams time. So I took my papers without my glasses. Very handy excuse for my results. And the entire Europe without my glasses. Sigh... anyway, now that it's done, I can't walk straight with it. Been glasses-less for too long already. Anyway, getting better with it. Haha. Not helping me in finding that missing part of my car though.

Speaking of cars, I found the "missing" model shop in Tiong Bahru, hidden snugly at a corner of Level 5, where hardly anyone goes. And I found (drumroll please), Sea Line Series models of 1/700 Scale ships of Admiral Scheer, Deutscheland, Admiral Graf Spee, Bismarck and Tripitz! Ok ok, I figure hardly anyone of you guys know what I'm talking about, but this is BIG. I mean, really big news. And they have the spray cans of all the colors I will need. Oh somebody stop me! I'm falling off my chair already. On top of that, each of the "pocket" battleship models costs only S$19.90. The battleships were, I think, about S$25. Not too bad. Spray cans about S$10 each. Can't wait for the next holidays to get started.

Oh didn't know you guys back home came to my blog. I feel so honored. Anyway, to answer your question Ken Lin, I also thought I would blow the Singaporeans away with my immense brain capacity (aka the single cell). I thought wrong. Haha. Will be back home soon. Maybe during the weekends once term starts. And I'm sick of doing the organizing already! Everyone just make your own way to SS2 Coffee Bean.... or DU Sam's Corner..... or Bandar Utama Coffee Bean..... or just burn Iraqi fuel in my tank cruising... argh. We'll decide when I get back!

Here is your chance to find out how pure you really are. Check it out at The Spark dot com. There is a whole load of other tests that you could take, when you find yourself with a whole load of time as me. And, interestingly enough, I found out that I am more pure than Chi Anh. Haha, trust lil' innocent me. Anyhow, you guys will most probably be in the range of 65% and above, unless you have:

(1) eaten babies;
(2) performed a striptease;
(3) played dress up... in that way;
(4) consumed alcohol in a vehicle.

Basically you get the idea. So, all you pure friends of mine, have no fear and take this test. Of course, it would help if you guys let me know how pure you are too. Hehe. Email me!

Moving on to American Idol 2, Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken both released their singles last week. Rooooben with Flying WIthout Wings and Clay with This is the Night. Strangely enough, Clay's album outsold Ruben's album by more than 100,000 copies. And to think that Ruben beat Clay by around 100,000 votes too. So, Clay shoots to the top of the Billboard Singles Chart with Ruben right up his ass in second spot. Even better than Kelly Clarkson's A Moment LIke This. Needless to say, Val says she has already ordered Clay's single from Amazon.com... or was it she tried, but failed. Hmmm... either way, she's weird. Haha...
Just heard from Eric aka No. 21 that Ms Tang told him that we can now go back without having to stay for 10 days at one of the other halls. Great! Now I can go back... NOT! Will be starting work next Monday, and will be coming up with the duty roster on Saturday. Sigh, wrong timing, but at least it shows that the worldclass brains upstairs managed to knock some sense into themselves. Maybe I'll go back when term starts...

Patiently awaiting the arrival of the gold spray...

Didn't do much today, except taking these really weird tests. Will continue with the car later on....

Find out what anime villan you are.

I really ought to watch more animes. Who is this fella?
Ahhhh.... the car is almost done. I'll say about 90%. All that is left is the wheels, which I need to wait for the gold spray to arrive from KL. It's been a good one week since I started. Everyday, just bumming around the room making this car. I haven't NOT played cm0102 for so long!

Been listening to some London (which I just learnt is also known as West End) theater music, such as Blood Brothers, Les Miserables and one track of Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom CD was kind of spoilt, making the tracks skip a few seconds, or jolt from here to there. Gave up at track 3 because listening to Christine's squeeling over and over again is just too much. Les Miserables is really good. And the current person playing Eponine is a babe. Babelicious baby! Haha.

Contemplating on getting a new video card. Tested out the new Geforce4 4400 Titanium from Ris, and my C&C:Generals was really sweet! I could not even enjoy a game with the graphic card when Ris came back to claim his video card. And the reason why he used it was because his computer was cranky and he needed to test the video card on my computer. Talk about gratitude....

I wonder how long this temperature taking and verification crap will last. Until next semester? Maybe... but who will verify our temperature? RHOCers will be defunct by then. JCRC will be a two-man army, which I think will not be up to the task. Office? Yeah right. Perhaps a minor could be set up for this. Or perhaps this rubbish will be stopped by then. Hong Kong is FINALLY out of the SARS-affected country list. Just have to wait for China and Taiwan. Then OSA will have no damn reason to implement these ridiculous rules. And... I can go home! WEEEE.....!

Took a quiz, looks like... my favourite female part is: the face! Cool, kinda true, but then... what other options are there? You guys go and try it out:

My Favorite Female Part Is:

The Face: Sweet and angelic...

It is now midnight, and I see Yin Chuin on MSN. Poor chap, must still be in the office. These law firms really squeeze every cent from the S$1500 they pay to their pupils. What happened to the good ol' nine-to-five jobs? And I just thought about it, maybe i could get a job as a teacher. Don't laugh, I can handle kids ok... and on top of working school hours, I get loads of holidays. Enjoy while the kids are enjoying. Seems like a pretty good deal for me. The other thing I was thinking about was working for the United Nations. Maybe UNESCO, UNICEF, UNAIDS or IFOR(!!). But heck, I ain't gonna be a peacekeeper. Think I would be one of those guys driven in the big white jeeps, surrounded by bodyguards who make sure that snipers are not around, dodging bullets to get to my office. Well, you could look at it as a challenge I guess. Whatever it is, point is, if the economy remains the way it is now, I'm gonna be out of job for a pretty long time. Not nice...

::.. Sunday, June 22, 2003 ..::

Damn, I'm getting quite fed up with blogger. I typed a pretty long post yesterday afternoon, and when I clicked Post, the damn thing just said "The server is not something-something". Basically I could not post, AND I could not retrieve what I typed. Grrrr.... anyway shall summarize what I typed, hopefully I remember what I said also.

So, it's been almost a week since my last post. Maybe because I was busy with my Subaru Impreza plastic model that I bought on Monday. I bought the 1998 version, which was about 10 dollars cheaper than the 2002 version. Well, maybe I will get the 2002 version later on. Car is not completed yet, only a few touches left, with the dreaded decals still not done yet. I hope I don't tear anything up, or screw up anything. Already, I have left a few airbubbles on the rear spoiler when I sprayed it, broke the brake lights and lost the smaller part of the brake lights. Sigh... well, first car. Forgiveable. But my next car is gonna be a real masterpiece. That is, IF i get a chance to make another one. Already, Chi Anh said "No plastic models when I'm around". Sigh... the saying that girls and cars don't mix seems to be true, even to the miniature level. Anyway, I will be posting the photos of my car once it is completed. Stay tuned...

I also applied for a job by OSA to man some booths at Changi Airport. We are supposed to "welcome" new international students who fly into Singapore, answer whatever queries they have, and give them directions to get to NUS. Or rather, to PGP for their quarantine. Haha. Two shifts of six hours everyday with 5 bucks an hour. Transport costs would be about 5 dollars to and fro, plus about another 5 dollars for food. Well, I guess it is better than just rotting in my room. Even my games are getting boring, and I am going to finish my car.

Watched Finding Nemo yesterday at Tiong Bahru. A really good movie. The effects are just getting better all the time. I actually find this movie better than Monster Inc., not in the special effects sense, but in the movie sense. Had a few touching scenes, kind of like in the movies Lion King, Land Before Time, bla bla... The movie kind of gave dentists a pretty bad impression "Oops... well, at least it was the right tooth". Haha. Anyway, won't reveal too much about the movie for the benefit of those who have not watched the movie. Next on my list: TERMINATOR 3!!!

Oh yes, I have added Eric Choo's website to the list on the left. Check it out. Especially the No. 21 link. Good for a laugh. Haha

::.. Sunday, June 15, 2003 ..::

Who am I, or what am I? I suppose that is the question that most people would have asked by now, assuming that you all are around 20 years of age. With the amount of time that I have on my hands, I guess I have pondered on this question quite a number of times. But then, till now, I still have not found the answer.

Many years ago (yes, many), while I was still in secondary school (seriously, many years ago), I figured that I was gonna be a mugger, end up as an Electrical Engineer, and earn money and so on and so forth. If you think I am a mugger now, which i violently deny, you should have seen how I was like before. I hardly went out, only for tuition, school, and the occasional cycling around the neighborhood. I would go to school in the morning, reach home around 140PM, have lunch, bathe, then start studying till dinner. If I have tuition in the afternoon, then off to tuition I go, and studying resumes when I reach back. Around 630PM, it's dinner time, where I rest till around 730PM, where studying continues. Sleep around 1230AM. So, that was my life, for 2 years from 1996 to 1997. Sad huh? Didn't really have time to hang out, go out, never heard of Internet, or even talk to girls. Hahaa, back then, I was really the mugger extraordinaire.

Then came JC. Boy, that sure was a time of waking-up. Back in secondary school, almost all I did was right. As in, I could argue with the teacher about some physics problem, and come out right. I couldn't go wrong. BUT, in JC, boy did reality bite. And it bit real hard. I soon realized that it was futile for me to argue about some physics, maths or chemistry problem with the tutor. There was just no way that I could know so many things. The syllabus was really killing me. Before, when I checked the answers to some problems that I did, and the answer came out wrong, I could say I was 60% right and the answer was 40% wrong. Now, I'm 100% wrong. Sigh... that was a sad time. Another thing that I was really confused was why didn't I take biology? I mean, I did biology in secondary school, my parents wanted me to be a doctor, I was in St John Ambulance... if I did well in biology in A-Levels, I would have got a good chance of getting into medicine in NUS. Even the interviewer for my ASEAN scholarship asked me why didn't I take biology to get into medicine, considering I had an interest in first aid. Oh yeah, I was in First Aid Club in Hwa Chong as well. Sigh, oh well, I guess I closed one door when I decided to take double Maths.

And now, here I am in university. I knew that I was gonna get screwed here, but I never expected to be in the running for a second lower. I always decided to get myself into second upper. But then, sighz... it was just not meant to be. I figure my chances of getting to second upper is almost nil. However, I'm just gonna give it a shot, there is nothing left to lose. At least I can tell myself that I tried. I think the problem is just that I am not up to standard to challenge the really good ones. Meaning, I'm not smart enough. From what I have said, you can see for yourself that I have basically SLOGGED my way up to now, where slogging is just doesn't take you anywhere. Here, you need to be smart, and when I say smart, I mean an IQ of maybe 180+? I don't know my IQ, but it shd be in the range of 160. Not good enough I guess. A friend of mine (shall not name the person) once told me about how he/she despised the "muggers" who got their A's by doing the ten year series and remembering facts, without actually using a brain to think and all that. I fall into the category of muggers basically. I know that I am not smart enough, that's why I do my ten year series. That's why I memorize facts. That's why I don't make the cut for first class, or even second upper class. What I lack in the muscle-that-matters, I make up with studying. But then, the hard truth remains that, in university, that doesn't count for anything. It is still the fittest that survives. So, I guess my friend is right. We mere mortals don't deserve our A's, our recognition, our "pride", because we just don't reach the level that is required to be considered as "cream of the crop".

So, now, what am I? I thought that entering Raffles Hall would give me a chance to be able to find that elusive answer. So far, I have to say, I have been unsuccessful. Let's start from the very beginning. First year, I was in BOP, Sets, Welfare, and Bizcom (which was forgetable, so let's scrape that). BOP was quite okay, I realized I had an interest in photography, although my technical knowledge was kind of limited. Then in sets, I guess I wasn't really physically built properly to be able to fulfill the job description. Haha, Yeah, that kind of put me off too. Then in welfare, I realized that we were just a bunch of coolies who, like coolies, are underappreciated and under-given-points.

Fastforward to the second year, with Float, BOP, hockey and choir. Let's start with Float. To be honest, Float was CRAP. Okay, at the beginning it was fine. I mean, we were all excited about coming up with the "winning design". But then, along the way, a lot of things happened. First of all, I had to go back to Malaysia for two weeks to babysit my EIGHTEEN year old sister while my parents were in China. When I came back to Singapore, I felt like I was treated as an idiot, who didn't know anything or what I was doing. I was pushed to cleaning up the conference room, making the starch and all other menial work. Morale plummeted for a moment. Then, the engineers returned, and we all started the real physical work. I still remember the first day. Day One: I was the first person down, as usual. Maffrine, Ira, Boon Seong, EeLin were still slumbering while I was down in the work area. Then the engineers came strolling in. After setting up the tables, they took out the plans and were eager to start work. Still no sign of the rest of the designers. Djamil came up to me "Yo, Daniel. How wide do you want the main frame to be, and you see this part here, it has to hang over the edge of the truck. How far down can we go? We need to consider the weight of the structure because we don't want the wood to be scraping the ground." Well, how the HELL am I supposed to know any shit when all I did was make starch and clean the conference room. So basically, I didn't know much, which led to the engineers dumping all respect and trust they had in me right into the stinky drain around our workplace. Of course, the designers came in around 1030 to 1100 in the morning, with all the answers. I wasn't needed around. I knew it. I was the one who had to go around Singapore, collecting materials. Avneesh: "Hey, Daniel. Can you follow Kelvin over to Sungai Kadut to collect some wood? Daniel, don't mind following Kelvin over to Arab Street to collect some cloth. Daniel, go with Kelvin and collect the magazines". At this point, I kind of figured that I was irrelevant in the Float "Team". I began thinking to myself: what have I contributed to the team? Almost nothing. NIL. ZERO. So, what I lacked due to my inept knowledge in architecture, I decided to compensate by working extra hard. Yeah, I came down at 9AM everyday, opened the store, got out the tools, made sure there were enough nails to go around. Made sure the bits of the saw did not go missing. Cleaned up the stinky drain. But then, the damage had been done. The designers didn't consider me as nothing more than trash. And the same could be said about the Engineers. So, yeah, that was my "memorable" holiday experience of 2001. Next was BOP, lucky for me, I thought I found something that could keep me occupied, and interested in, besides my daily mundane life of studying for exams. Choir was okay as well, I managed to catch up with my "singing". However, towards the end of the academic year, I decided to drop it, because I have come to realized that I was just not good enough. People do not like me. Why should I go up on stage to sing for them? Screw them. Then came hockey. I was always fascinated by this game, mainly because of my ACS(I) roommate Chik Liang, who kind of made me realize how difficult it actually was to play hockey, even tougher than soccer if I may add. So I decided to give it a shot. And I may add that, I was kind of alright for a first timer. I did my hits right, my stamina was o.k., I had some ball sense. I even gave up my two toe-nails for the cause. Then came IHG. From basic logic, I knew I wasn't in the first team. Well, doesn't matter, almost nobody makes it into the first team as a first timer. So, maybe I could be a substitute, just to get on to the pitch for a few minutes. That is better than nothing. Well, it had to be, cos nothing really sucked. I didn't even make it to the bench for God's sakes. And that sucked. It had a sickening feeling that all that I had done was in vain. Better luck next year, I told myself. So, to year three we go!

Year Three started with me applying for BOP MM position. However, I knew my chances were next to nothing. I mean, how can you challenge someone who had been approached to be the MM by the JCRC? I had to be kidding myself. And it was true, my application wasn't even given a second glance. In fact, it was scoffed at, and I bet it was even ridiculed. "Daniel? You gotta be kidding. Next position?" Someone must have said that in the meeting room. Anyway, BOP major position was a consolation. I mean, I knew what to do. I had to, I was a BOP intermediate member for one year, a BOP major for one year: what idiot with that background doesn't know how to run BOP? Not that I think Kuan Meng did a bad job, he did a good job in fact. It's just that, for someone neutral, given my background, wouldn't you think that I could do a good job too? Ok, point-wise, in my first year, I was allocated top points, and for my second year, also top points. I'm sure that happened for a reason. Next up, I decided to take up softball. Yeah, I knew it had been almost 10 years since I held a softball bat, but what-the-heck. I wasn't thinking about the points, so, softball was good. I had a really good time in softball. Sigh... gonna miss those days. And, back to hockey, second year running. So, now, I'm Mr Third Year, that first years are supposed to look up to. I did improve quite a lot since my second year. Ball control, hits, passes. Again, lost two toe-nails, which was starting to be almost an annual ritual. Then, came IHG. I figured that midfield was already packed. Defence was kind of shaky. So I could make a brief appearance. But the one position I thought i could make was the striker position. Until I found out that "A" was gonna take that spot, although he came for trainings for... not sure, but I can definitely count with one hand. And true enough, he was the lone striker. I thought, well, I could sub him later. And the substitution came, but it wasn't me who came on, it was a first year who knew balls about playing properly. What the HELL was he doing out there? I was pissed. Never mind, there is still a second game. Second game came, still no appearance. Third game came and went, and by then I knew that i wasn't playing. I know I'm not superbly smart, but I'm not stupid either. So, why bother wearing my shoes? Why bother warming up? Why bother wearing my shin guards? I am not playing. And no, you can't take my shoes because your shoes died. And no, you are not taking my hockey, you can go buy yourself a new one, you f*cker. So, two years, and not a minute on the pitch. People ask me "So, how was the game?". My answer would be "Ask someone who played." I know I sound like a whiner, but then, it is very frustrating when you realize that all the trainings were wasted, hopes were in dashed. I mean, it reduces you to nothingness. You are nothing to the team. Nothing.

So, that's the three years in Raffles Hall, that I told myself I would find the answer to the question: Who am I? Well, let's see... I can't do Float for nuts, I sure as hell am not a hockey player. I cannot say I'm choir material. Softball? Not really also. Ahhhh.... photography. Well, I do have something which defines me. That was what I thought.

"Hey this picture sucks! This picture is too dark! I look fat in this photo! You are a lousy photographer! Why do you take such lousy photos! Can you take better photos? Call yourself a BOP Major!"

Who am I? Somebody tell me.

So, it's been a month and a half since the ceasefire in Iraq (1st May). Search for the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) still proves to be in vain. Nothing, not even a sniff, of its existance has been found. Well, so far, they did find a trailer which has been proven to be able to facilitate biological weapons processing. But, the fact still remains that there are no WMD. So far, there have been four theories:

1. They were destroyed before the war began.
2. They are still hidden.
3. They were smuggled out of the country.
4. The UN Inspectors were right: there are no WMD.

So, let's go through the four theories, starting with the first. Basically, it doesn't seem possible for anybody to destroy 30,000 warheads, 500 tonnes of chemical weapons (as claimed by the USA) between the time the USA proclaimed that it would cleanse the world of the evil-doers, aka Saddam, and when the tanks started rolling into Baghdad. As for the second theory, it is quite unlikely that the US is unable to find, at least stumble upon, all those weapons. Even the Delta Force were unsuccessful in finding these elusive warheads. The third theory is the most alarming one. If it is true, it is possible that terrorist groups could have gotten their hands on to them. Who knows, these weapons could have already made their way to American cities. The fourth theory, which I find the most interesting one, is the one that could be the most probable one. I mean, how can you find something that isn't there, which has been the case so far.

So, what happens if no weapons are found? Will Bush still insist that they are there? That looters did their jobs and left no trace of the WMD? That they won't find it unless someone pointed it out to them? The bottomline is that America has entered a new age of pre-emption, where it strikes first because it cannot afford to find out later if terrorists possess nuclear or chemical weapons. So, it all boils down to "Strike First, Ask Later", which pretty much defines the American Cowboy lifestyle. Incidentally, Bush is from Texas, home of the cowboys. That aside, if the United Nations is helpless in preventing America from attacking a sovereign nation without prior Security Council approval, what would happen if, say, some "intelligence" were to show that Iran had biological weapons? Of course, we are talking about US Intelligence, not counting UN Intelligence which America has denounced as unreliable. Back to the question... Bush will last only one term. Heck, he's lucky to be there in the first place, Al Gore would have definitely handled the situation better.

Okay, back to reality, just came back from watching Matrix: Reloaded.

Have to say I am a little bit disappointed with the movie. First of all, I could not understand what the heck the architect or the oracle was trying to say. Secondly, what's with all the sexual innuendos? The dancing in the Temple of Zion, the stirring in the woman's loins, the kissing between that woman and Neo, and to top that all up, NEO'S BUTT!!! Apart from those negative points, I have to say that the action scenes were not too bad. The part with all the Agent Smiths, oops, i mean, Smiths, was a bit exagerated, and a bit draggy. I mean, 10 minutes of fighting off dozens of Smiths? A bit too much. However, the highway scene was wayyyy cool. The best part in the show. Oh yeah, the superman stunt that Neo always pulls is a bit funny, I mean, it's more of a superman-wannabe stunt. Overall, I would give it 3 stars out of 5. Best advice if you haven't watched it: don't go into the cinema expecting too much.

Yet another day passes by... with nothing to do. Boy I really am rotting my days away. Well, not really. Been reading up on GPS and SIM cards for my technopreneurship programme. But that is hardly any fun. Fun? Hmmm.... possibly we could count the many hours I spent on C&C: Generals and CM0102. Or, maybe even the minesweeper game that I have been playing with Ris. Apart from that, and waking up at 12PM, life has been pretty mundane. And to end off my day, I will have the daily complaints from Val about how work was a bitch, and how the woman in the office is a bitch. Oh, I mean her law firm office, not the hall office, although it works both ways.

Well, I hope to get a temporary job soon. Kuan Meng said he could help me with getting a job as an invigilator. Heard the pay is not bad... could help to cover my accomodation charges. Sigh. Boring.

Looks like I am not going to go back to KL these holidays after all. OSA changed their regulations, yet again. Now, if I go back, I will have to apply through the office, and Registrar, which I'm fine with. The problem is that I have to stay in Temasek Hall for 10 days upon my return, where I am supposed to pay for my accomodation in Raffles Hall as well as in Temasek Hall. Crap... I don't think it's worth going back in that case. I figure I could go back during week zero, when all the freshies are running around campus. Yeah, I think I have had enough of that already. And furthermore, in week zero, OSA can't put me anywhere else on campus, since all the rooms will be filled up. Unless they are bitchy enough to put me somewhere outside of campus, where they don't give a damn. Being NUS, I guess it is a possibility. Guess I have to wait then... updates soon....

Gosh, today must have easily been the most BORING day so far. Woke up around 1230PM, hehe. Couldn't find anybody to go for lunch with, so poor me didn't have lunch. Sob. Then played Generals for a few minutes, got bored again. Read up about GPS technology for my technopreneurship concept plan, but after a while, got a bit boring. Furthermore I was hungry. So ended up taking a nap, only to be awaken by Mr Kuan Meng, who came barging into my room, itching to play Generals. Well, pity the poor chap. So, now, here I am, before dinner, bored... again. Gonna attend a seminar later at 7PM, which I bet I will get bored again. Sighz... boring!

I am really wondering what OSA is up to. I want to go back to Malaysia for a few days, or at most, one and a half weeks. But I think they will reallocate me to another hall. Why the hell for?? I mean, I already have a room in my hall, so what's the point of putting me in another hall? So I can pay for the double accomodations? Well, gotta give them credit for taking advantage of the SARS situation. Money-wise of course. Furthermore, I emailed Master to see if I could go back to Malaysia without losing my hall stay. As usual, Master forwarded the email to Ms Tang Foon Yang (shall refer to her as Foon Yang, or the Bitch, from now on) cos as usual, Master has no idea what is going on. But the funniest thing is that Foon Yang doesn't understand English! Instead of telling me how many days, she told me the procedure of getting approval and so on and so forth, that I already know. Comprehension: FAIL. So, utterly-frustrated, I emailed her back, asking the same question: Will I lose my vacation room if I go back to Malaysia. Well, still waiting for the answer. Sigh... Will let you know when, and if, there is a reply.

Yummy... had an excellent dinner at Hard Rock Cafe last night, thanks to Mr Phillip Oh. Haha... After tasting the delicious food by HRC London, Berlin and Paris, had to come back "home" and taste how it really is here. Overall, it was about the same. Some stuff that they had there are not available in Singapore. Proportion also slightly smaller in Singapore. Anyway, made full use of the free dinner, had a nice yummy starter, a nice yummy main course, and a nice yummy desert. Was stuffed all the way till 3AM... ahhhh... oh yeah, we also got Val a bag for her birthday, an office bag, which she will never bring out during normal days... think it will remind her of her job. Haha.

Just got back from lunch at YIH with Hai Jie, Perd.... and his babe! Haha, Perd is DA MAN. Well, after a long, long wait, he can stop grumbling and moaning cos he has finally got his gal. Well, not official yet, but, we'll just wait and see.... tick tock tick tock....

Had our last drinking session last night with Yin Chuin and Hai Jie. Well, I have to say that I have improved significantly since my first session. I knocked out after 2 glasses then. Quite pathetic. Now, I am a new man! Hahaa... anyway, had our usual drinks, talked a bit, then we were off. Didn't want to get a hangover today, cos I was just got back from X-Men 2, and it was greaaattt! So, this movie made me change my mind about Jean Gray. Before, she would do some really "strenuous" task with her mind, only to collapse and be rescued by her lover Scott. But, now... she is way stronger and better. Though she died at the end. Whooops! But then, I bet ALL of you have watched the movie already, so doesn't matter anyway. As for the rest of the mutants, Iceman is kinda useless. Well, maybe he hasn't had the chance to show off his powers, unlike Pyro, who is reallll cool! Loved the way he taught the coppers a lesson. Haha. Not much of Cyclops in this movie... got to watch him cry though. And Mystique sure is powerful! Like her blue makeup, hehe... Here are a few of pictures from that movie that I thought were reallll cool...

So, next on my list... Matrix Reloaded and Bruce Almighty. Can't wait to get started.

My life has just been threatened.... to save me, please go to Val's Europe pictures.

Anyway, had a yummy dinner at my friend's place. Crabs sure are good, boy have I missed them. Had a few cuts on my hands, from the CLAWS of the crabs. Damn, nasty... even when they're dead. Had a nice chat telling her what to do when she goes to UK in two weeks. Like, where to go, when to go, what shows to watch, etc. And I just realized it takes 40 freaking minutes to go to her place at Gilman Heights! Had to take 96 to Clementi, then hop on to 166 to go over to Alexandra Road. Of course, I forgot all about bus 97. But still... anyway, got a ride back to hall from her, which took... 10 minutes. Sigh.... I miss my wheels....
Oops! I just got screwed, not literally, by Yin Chuin. He "claims" all the pictures in his photo album are HIS. Hmmm.... however, some of the pictures look suspiciously familiar. A bit like what I saw through my own camera. Anyway, trust him a bit yah. He says the pictures he "stole" from me are in his computer, and he labeled them e.g. Dan-Paris-YC's Big Butt. So that he knows that I took the pictures, and so that I can't sue him for copyright infringement. Haha.

Looks like the two dudes are not moving out together. Yin Chuin is moving today, with some help from his uncle's van. Meanwhile, Hai Jie will be getting help from his friend's car to move his stuff. They're not the only ones moving today. Hall seems more alive today, with people on IA franticallly shifting their stuff to their holiday rooms before the invaders from PGP come knocking on their doors. Feels more like a hall again... Ah crap, screw the hall.

From the past week, it seems that Yin Chuin is enjoying work. Coming back "early" aka 7PM-8PM, on MSN, bumming around.... as if work had not started. On the other hand, poor ol' Val has five official working days... nope, make that NINE unofficial working days, if you consider the number of hours. HAHAHA.... and she still wants to be retained in the company. By the way, it's D&N. Aspiring lawyers, take note. Company motto: pupils == slaves. My best advice would be to just do what is OFFICIAL, and don't get retained. Who the hell wants to work in this kind of working environment anyway? Sure, earning big bucks, but no life at all. Well, maybe that's just what lawyers do everywhere. In that case, too bad... such is life...
Well, today, Yin Chuin and Hai Jie are gonna move out of hall. Have to say that I am gonna miss them, having been their neighbor for two years. Within these two years, they have enlightened my naive mind, with things like girls, MSN, icq, booze.... OOPS! Nah, those were by Hai Jie mainly. Haha. Yin Chuin is still the innocent bear he was.

By the way, here are pictures of Yin Chuin and Hai Jie. Haha... found them hidden in my computer somewhere.

Anyway, having said that, I have also moved out of the split after two looong years. Collected a lot of junk along the way, as testified by the heaps of rubbish that I threw out of my room when I was packing. Loads of first year notes, which brought not so good memories, went into the recycle bin. Yes, I am environmental-friendly. Haha. And now, after 2 days of shifting, I have settled quite well in my temporary holiday room. Quite simple to move, the new room is just a mirror image of my old room. A bit lazy to shift, so took 2 days... No complaints about the room, except that I definitely didn't get a room for a view: a drain, a pipe, and a balding slope outside my window. Oh well, not like I really open my blinds to enjoy the view anyway.

I just read some posts on the NUS SARS forum regarding the forum that was held last Tuesday. Prof Tan Teck Koon, the head of Student Affairs, was summarizing up what he said during the forum. Seemed quite okay, UNTIL, a reply was posted by a certain Tan Su-Yin. Rebutted what the prof said, very, VERY well. From what Tan Su-Yin said, I think that Prof Tan is somewhat a moron. If you can access into the forum, make sure you read his post. You will agree with me. And I managed to find a picture of him. Here he is, the infamous Professor Tan Teck Koon, from Arts.. naturally...

awww... ain't that neat?

Somehow, thesedays, with the SARS issue, I tend to trust students more than the staff. These people just don't treat us like adults anymore. More like primary school kids who are not matured enough to think rationally. And their excuse is that the steps taken by them is for the well-being of the students. How would they know anything if they don't come and talk to us BEFORE implementing stupid and ridiculous rules. So far, eight directives have been issued. Hmmmm... I wonder how many more would they need before it really becomes good enough for us. I just hope this stupid epidemic goes away before it screws us students more... sigh.
Oh, I have finally uploaded all my trip photos. Some suck, some are okay. I didn't edit any pictures, so you get to see them in their original states. Yin Chuin says that some, or many, are under-exposed. Don't know why it happens. Must be the way I take, trying to force the camera to get the shot at 1/30 shutter speed when it realistically cannot take. So, oh well... learn something new everyday. Anyway, here are the pictures.

By the way, here are Yin Chuin's pictures. Some of them are MINE!!! YC the scum stole them from me, and put them there. Well, at least he acknowledged that the pictures are mine. Can't blame him too much then. Now that you have the pics, enjoy!
Well, well, well.... blogger seems to have something wrong. My last post took 2 days to appear. For a moment, I thought all that I typed had gone down the drain. Anyways, life is as boring as ever. Running out of ideas of what to do. Well, actually I do have ideas. Its just that the first step is always the hardest. For example, I think i better start jogging, get rid of that tummy of mine. Seems that Chi Anh is also jogging back home. I better follow suit. Hehe... could help with improving my stamina a little. Also, shall read a book or two. Gonna get The Piano from Val... seems to be a really good read. Nice for a read just before going to sleep. Besides that, maybe I'll pay the occasional visit to the gym. Yeah really! Hahaha. I'm trying to convince myself.

Hmmm, I might not be able to go home to Malaysia after all. Seems that my room would be given away if I do. HOWEVER, where there's a will, there's a way. Hopefully, I would be able to find a way to get back and NOT lose my room. Sheesh, what am I gonna do here anyway? I'm gonna rot and spend more Singapore dollars. It's all a ploy by the government to increase their GDP. Yeah right, as if my meagre spending will make much difference. RELEASE ME!!!!!!

::.. Thursday, June 05, 2003 ..::

Sigh, with all the newfound time I have during the holidays, I have finally finished watching 24 Season 2. Yay... it had such a superb ending! I really wanna know if there would be a season 3. For your sakes, I shall not tell you guys the ending, but it really rocks. And also, I am beginning to get bored by Smallville. The plots are getting boring, and Clark is such a wuss.... LANA IS YOURS DAMMIT! I think he must be gay, with Luthor.... Sheesh. So, now, with 24 done with, I think I shall start thinking of a new TV show to start watching. Risky sure isn't much help. Sigh.

Oh yeah, I got so bored that I actually took out my first year history book to read up on European History. IT is actually quite interesting, despite the look of shock on Ris' face. Haha, boy I think he thinks i'm mad, and I think u ppl too. But seriously, when you read about history, you actually learn how our world became the world it is today. Such as the the Holy Roman Empire, the Hapsburg.... these few empires were the ones that really shaped Europe the way it is. Well, for some reason, I don't find Asian history quite as interesting. Not enough bloodshed I guess. Haha.

Gonna spend the next few days rotting, till I watch X-Men 2 (yeah, I'm that late), Matrix Reloaded (though I heard it sucked) and Bruce Almighty (yeah, I love Jim).

Man, it's been ages since I have posted. Holidays are here!!! Rather, holidays were here a month ago, but I was off to Europe! Woohoo... boy did i have fun! Too bad it's over. For the uninformed, I was at London, Paris, Lucerne, Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Krakow, Warsaw, Amsterdam... yeah. All covered within 1 month. Boy was it a rush. But it was fun. Anyway, the trip to Europe was a real eye-opener for me. First of all, I realized that Master of Raffles Hall, really quite sucky. Honest. U know those ppl playing music instruments in the tube stations? All of them play MUCH better than master! e.g. the person playing the violin, man, he could have made it to an orchestra. Much better than master's screeching. And the person playing the accordian, man, now I really know how an accordian is supposed to sound like. Hahaha... no offence, but Master, you are a Jack of all trades, but Master of none. Quite ironic, Master of none... hmmm. Anyway, second eye-opener: that we are all very fortunate ppl indeed. Everyone who is reading this. When I was in London and Paris, we met lots and lots of homeless people. Really pitiful people, they sleep along the walkway, at people's doorsteps at night. Imagine the cold, I was already complaining sleeping in my bed, i cannot imagine them.So, I really won't complain about getting a S$2,200 a month salary when I start work.

That is all for now. Pictures of the trip will be posted on sony imagestation soon. Damn a lot to put up, so just sit back and relax, while they get posted. OH yeah, amazing race has begun again! Yeah!!
